Treasury

Protocol fees accrue to a treasury controlled by the DAO. This page describes how the treasury is funded, and what is intended — and not yet built — about how it is spent.

How Masternodes Earn

Masternodes earn through three streams.

  1. As an Independent Market Maker. By fulfilling intents and earning the market maker's share of the spread. The role is open to anyone; masternode operators are its verified tier.
  2. By participating in the Titan Pool.Described below.
  3. From the Treasury. The Treasury pays 80% of protocol fees to masternode operators. This is the intended distribution model; the disbursement mechanism is part of the funded work and does not exist in the software today.

The Titan Pool

The Titan Pool is a shared pool of assets, run on the Evo Titan platform. Instead of every operator managing their own inventory, participants can contribute assets to the pool, buy shares, and receive rewards pro-rata to their share. 20% of the pool supports the top 10 projects and teams ranked by masternode vote, divided equally among them; the remaining 80% is distributed to masternode operators. The exact mechanics of the pool are still being finalized and are not claimed here.

The payout address

The treasury receives superblock payouts at a single address. Payouts to market makers are made on Dash Layer 1, usingsendmany, to the payout address that Dash Core reports for each verified ProTxHash. A market maker never supplies a receiving address. SeeCompliance.

Privacy Hygiene

Incoming funds are mixed immediately: the treasury wallet has CoinJoin enabled and autostarting, so each payout is broken into denominations and mixed on receipt rather than being left in clean, trivially followable outputs.

What this does not achieve: it does not hide the receipt. A treasury superblock pays a known address on a public chain on a schedule, and anyone can see that. The mixing beginsafter that. This is balance hygiene, not obfuscation, and it is stated plainly so that no reviewer mistakes the intent.
